Mandela statue unveiled in London ...

A nine-foot statue of Nelson Mandela was unveiled in his honour in Parliament Square, London. The project was initiated by Donald Woods before he died, but continued by Richard Attenborough, Dillon Woods, John Duffy (advisor to Mayor Livingstone) and Wendy Woods. Sculptor Ian Walters travelled to Mandela's Qunu home to begin the sculpture and completed it shortly before the unveiling, which was carried out by Prime Minister Gordon Brown, Wendy Woods and Mayor Livingstone in the presence of Nelson Mandela.
